Team Liquid's Manuel Bachoore made history last night, securing his second FC Pro World Championship (World Cup) title with a 5-3 victory over Frenchman Brice Masson. The win makes him the first-ever repeat champion in the tournament's history.
Bachoore took home 250.000 dollars with his win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His road to the final wasn't easy, as he didn't directly qualify for the main tournament but had to go through the play-ins.
"Winning the World Championship two times is more than I could have asked for", Bachoore said after the finals. "I didn't think it was possible, but here we are. It is my dream, it was my dream, and I am happy it is the reality now."
Third for Levi de Weerd
Not only did Manuel win the World Cup, but Team Liquid's Levi de Weerd also secured a third place. After losing to Brice Masson in the semi-finals by 5-4, de Weerd beat Guilherme "GuiBarros" Barros by 4-1 in the Bronze final. A solid performance, given that GuiBarros was named as one of the favourites to win the title going into the semi-finals.
Esports World Cup 2025
The FC Pro 25 World Championship is part of the Esports World Cup 2025, so Manuel's victory also cemented Team Liquid's lead on the overall leaderboard. With less than two weeks to go, Team Liquid currently stands at the top of the club leaderboard with 4200 points, followed by Falcons (3700) and Team Vitality (3150).
