What is EA FC 26?
New year, new EA FC! EA FC 26 (formerly known as FIFA 26) is the newest football simulation game by EA Sports. Which EA FC 25 game modes will return in EA FC 26?
EA Sports has confirmed the popular game modes EA FC 26 Ultimate Team, EA FC 26 Career Mode, and EA FC 26 Pro Clubs for the EA FC franchise. In recent years, these modes have become favorites among many FIFA fans.
VOLTA Football, the street football mode that debuted in FIFA 20, has been replaced by the Rush Mode in EA FC 25. Rush Mode is a fast-paced 5v5 game mode on a small pitch with alternative rules.
VOLTA Football, where players can create their characters and have them compete in various street football leagues around the world, is still available as a 3v3 option in the Kick-off menu.
Back in EA FC 26: Rush Game mode
One of the newest additions to EA FC is the EA FC 26 Rush Mode, a new submode that is available in Clubs, Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Kick-Off. It was added to the game in EA FC 25, replacing the 'street football' experience VOLTA. Rush allows you to play 5-on-5 on a smaller pitch. Each team has one goalkeeper and four field players. The size of the goal remains the same. The field is separated into three zones: two attacking sides and one neutral middle zone. This game mode enables a more action-packed experience.
The rules are slightly different in this game as well. A heavy foul will result in a blue card, which means the offender has to leave the game for one minute. Offside is only possible on the attacking side, so not in the neutral zone. Penalties aren't a thing in Rush, but instead are replaced by a 1-on-1 shootout starting in the neutral zone.
EA FC 26 Player Roles
Unlike PlayStyle+, the new Player Roles in EA FC 26 dictate what a player must do when they do not have possession of the ball. Each player has at least one Role+, with some players having a Role++. This means they are World Class at that specific role. Lastly, there is the Out-of-Position Role. Meaning a player is doing something they are not meant to be doing, or are not good at.
Player Roles will introduce another tactical layer within EA FC 26, allowing gamers to dive deeper into the game than ever before. It is yet another way for EA Sports to make the game more realistic.
EA FC 26 Release date
EA FC 26 will most likely be released on Friday 26 September 2025 for every platform. If you buy the Ultimate Edition, you will get 7 days of early access. This means you can play the new game on Friday 19 September 2025.
