Munich, May 29, 2025 - Emre Yilmaz has made history by winning the eChampions League for the second time. The trophy, which strongly resembles the actual Champions League Cup, was presented to him by none other than Ruud Gullit. In addition to the title, he took home $75,000 in prize money.
In the final, 20-year-old Yilmaz faced Anders Vejrgang, one of the tournament favorites. In a thrilling match, he maintained control with his characteristic calmness and secured a narrow 2-1 victory. Ruud Gullit himself was there to congratulate him and joked, "Now I won four Champions Leagues: two as a player and two with Team Gullit."
With this victory, Emre Yilmaz not only solidifies his position but also firmly establishes the Netherlands as a leading country in the world of esports. Earlier this month, Team Liquid, the Dutch esports team that ranks among the absolute best globally, acquired Team Gullit. Together with Team Liquid, Yilmaz is now setting his sights on his next goal: the FC Pro World Championship in Riyadh. This tournament, boasting an impressive prize pool of $1 million, is set to kick off in two months.
