AMSTERDAM, October 14, 2021 - Samsung has officially committed itself to Team Gullit. Samsung has become the first shirt sponsor of Ruud Gullit’s FIFA academy and is therefore consciously taking a step towards esports. The new Team Gullit jersey will officially be available in FIFA 22 on October 21. The Invaders, the gaming label of creative agency 2Basics, established the collaboration.

The in-game partnership between Team Gullit and Samsung is the first-ever. Never has a sponsor adorned the shirt of the FIFA academy. Team Gullit’s kit also appeared in FIFA 21 a year ago, thanks to the results of the esports players in the FIFA Global Series. This year, Team Gullit’s jersey will be available again in FIFA Ultimate Team, the most popular game mode in FIFA. In addition to the kits of existing football clubs, FIFA 22 players can also opt to use the Team Gullit kit. Starting October 21, the Team Gullit shirt, and one other popular kit, will be added to the gamers’ choices.

Partnership around gaming

By partnering with Team Gullit, Samsung wants to connect itself even more to the world of young people and offer relevance within it. With this partnership, Samsung is tapping into the popularity of Team Gullit, and the brand will be visible during countless FIFA22 matches in the coming season. After all, the Team Gullit jersey with Samsung as the shirt sponsor can be seen in the game for every gamer and his opponent. In addition to the in-game partnership, Team Gullit and Samsung will activate the partnership through streams, events, videos, and giveaways. In addition, Team Gullit players Levi de Weerd and Dani Visser have become gaming ambassadors for Samsung.

‘’When it comes to innovation and marketing, Samsung is more than happy to get the ball rolling,’’ says Gerben van Walt Meijer, Marketing Manager Mobile of Samsung Netherlands, ‘’As the first shirt sponsor of Team Gullit, we contribute to a new generation of FIFA players through the FIFA academy and numerous activations. We are looking forward to making this a success!’’

Corné Dubelaar, Founder of Team Gullit, is also happy with the new collaboration: ‘’I am extremely proud that will work with Samsung. This deal shows the growth of Team Gullit. We now have the prestige and reach of a top international team. It’s cool to see that Samsung is also one of the first companies to invest in the esports domain with in-game shirt sponsorship.’’

Kevin Loos, Client Lead of The Invaders, about the collaboration: ‘’We get brands in touch with gamers. The starting point of the partnership is Samsung’s in-game integration into the FIFA game. Through the collaboration with Team Gullit, we create an entrance for Samsung during the ‘game moment’ of young people. Through this collaboration, Samsung can build a lasting relationship with this group through the touchpoint that is gaming.’’
